The promise of affordable electric cars is edging closer with the 2026 Kia EV4. While North America has some low-priced EVs like the Fiat 500e and Chevrolet Bolt, a conventional, affordable electric sedan has been missing. The Kia EV4 aims to fill that gap, though initially, it will only be sold in Canada due to current U.S. tariff policies.

Based on a new 400V version of Hyundai/Kia's E-GMP platform, the front-wheel-drive EV4 offers over 200 horsepower. It provides a smooth, quiet, and refined driving experience that surpasses typical compact gasoline cars. The stylish sedan, which resembles the larger EV6, comes with a well-appointed interior featuring dual 12.3-inch screens.

With a starting price of $41,145 in Canada, the EV4 positions itself as a practical, mainstream electric sedan. It delivers a comfortable ride and sophisticated drivetrain, though its price premium over gasoline counterparts and competition from popular electric crossovers may challenge its widespread adoption.
