Buick is intensifying its efforts to capture a larger share of China’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle market. The automaker has unveiled its latest battery-electric sedan, the Electra L7, which is designed to address two primary barriers for potential EV adopters: limited range and lengthy charging times.


Performance and Charging Specs

According to industry reports, the new Electra L7 BEV is poised to be one of the brand's most advanced electric offerings to date. The vehicle features an 800-volt architecture combined with 6C ultra-fast charging technology, allowing drivers to regain 280 miles (450 kilometers) of range in just 10 minutes. Furthermore, every trim level is engineered to provide a total range exceeding 435 miles (700 kilometers).


Under the hood, the mid-to-large sedan utilizes a single 282-kilowatt electric motor, generating approximately 378 horsepower and enabling a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h). The vehicle is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL.


Innovative Tech and Interior Features

The interior of the Electra L7 is equipped with a Qualcomm-powered system designed for a seamless digital experience. Safety and convenience are prioritized through a sophisticated chassis system capable of scanning the road ahead. Additionally, Buick collaborated with the autonomous-driving startup Momenta to integrate advanced driver-assistance features.


Reservation Details

While official pricing has not yet been finalized, Buick has begun accepting pre-orders in China. Customers who submit a 1,000 yuan deposit by August 19 will receive a 6,000 yuan discount on the final vehicle purchase price.

The introduction of the Electra L7 highlights the ongoing race among traditional automakers to remain competitive in the EV sector.
