With high fuel prices dominating headlines, Ford is attempting to attract customers by offering free gas cards worth up to $3,500 with the purchase of select new vehicles, as reported by CarsDirect.
However, the promotion comes with major limitations. It is only available in five U.S. cities: Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Denver, and Seattle. The offer applies solely to purchases of new Bronco Sport and Maverick models, excluding leases and other vehicles.
The larger $3,500 gas card does not apply to the fuel-efficient Maverick Hybrid, which only qualifies for a $1,000 card. Industry analysts note these two models are underperformers in Ford's 2025 lineup.
Further restrictions include the inability to combine the gas card with any other incentives, and delivery of the card may take over a month. CarsDirect suggests existing cash incentives from Ford, like immediate $3,000 Retail Customer Cash on the Bronco Sport, may be a better value for buyers.
The targeted nature of the offer, applying only to slower-selling models and not to gas-guzzlers like the F-150, highlights its primary role as a sales promotion. While it may generate initial interest, potential buyers are advised to scrutinize the fine print carefully.
