A Fresh Start for the Motorcycle Season
Intermot 2027 is set to revitalize the industry with an ambitious new event format scheduled for February 19–21 in Cologne, Germany. Organized by Koelnmesse and the Industrie-Verband Motorrad Deutschland e. V. (IVM), the show aims to deliver an immersive experience, boasting increased exhibition space and a stronger focus on active engagement.
The PLAYGROUND and Indoor Test Track
A central feature of the 2027 edition is the debut of a massive indoor test track. Stretching approximately 500 meters and featuring a specialized high-grip surface, the track is designed to allow visitors to test the latest 2027 motorcycle models under optimal conditions. Organizers estimate a capacity of over 1,000 test rides daily, with essential safety gear like helmets, jackets, and gloves available on-site.
Complementing the track is the PLAYGROUND, an area dedicated to manufacturer demonstrations and stunt shows, designed to bring high-energy excitement directly to the show floor.
Adventure Travel and Historical Racing
Intermot 2027 will cater to enthusiasts' wanderlust through its Adventure Travel zone. This area will showcase the latest adventure bikes, specialized gear, and travel experiences, brought to life on a central stage surrounded by industry leaders.
History and modern racing will also collide in a major exhibition. Celebrating the “100 Years of Nürburgring Nordschleife” theme, the event will feature a bridge between historic racing machines and contemporary series, including MotoGP, Motocross, and the Dakar Rally, showcasing the evolution of motorcycle sport.
Innovation and Future Mobility
The Innovation Walk will highlight the industry's technological advancement. Exhibits will focus on:
- Electric and hybrid propulsion systems
- Advanced safety and rider assistance technologies
- Comfort-enhancing features like automatic transmissions
- Sustainable developments in apparel and materials
Furthermore, the Urban Mobility sector will explore how motorized two-wheelers can address modern city challenges, such as reducing traffic congestion and preserving environmental resources.
Investing in Future Talent
Through the #motorradazubi initiative, Intermot is placing a significant emphasis on career development. The program includes practical tire-changing competitions and direct access to career counseling for those interested in the two-wheel mechatronics trade. By partnering with vocational schools, chambers of crafts, and labor agencies, the show aims to nurture the next generation of industry professionals. As a move to encourage young enthusiasts, children and youths up to age 16 will be granted free admission.
