In the world of classic car collecting, valuable vehicles often lead quiet lives in climate-controlled storage. However, the new owner of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, which sold for $38.5 million, has decided those rules do not apply.
This specific car is unique as the only 250 GTO originally delivered in factory white, known as Bianco Speciale. After taking delivery, collector David S.K. Lee immediately drove it around, and it was later spotted parked casually outside a Los Angeles golf course.
Chassis 3729GT, with a racing history and untouched originality, remains a raw, mechanical driving experience. Its 3.0-liter V12 produces 296 horsepower, enabling 0-62 mph in just over five seconds.
This philosophy of using the car as intended, rather than treating it as static art, offers a refreshing contrast in the high-stakes collector car community.
