Polestar's chief executive has definitively ruled out introducing any hybrid or combustion-engine models, reinforcing the brand's commitment to being purely electric. The Swedish automaker, part of China's Geely, began with the limited-run Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid but has since produced only EVs.
Despite a slowdown in EV adoption and rivals reinvesting in hybrid technology, Polestar's CEO, Michael Lohscheller, insists the brand is "not in a declining industry." He stated that the company's strategy is backed by science and the beliefs of its younger customer base, who strongly support climate action.
Lohscheller emphasized that pursuing hybrids would dilute resources and complicate the brand's mission. He views the EV-only stance as a key differentiator and a major opportunity, asserting that the future of mobility must be emission-free and that Polestar will accelerate its electric plans accordingly.
