Triumph is preparing to launch a Bonneville 350 in India, with the bike already spotted during testing. This move is a direct response to India's GST rules, which impose a significant tax advantage for motorcycles under 350cc.

Manufacturers like KTM are also shifting strategies to target this sub-350cc segment. Triumph's new model aims to compete directly with Royal Enfield's dominant Classic 350 and Bullet 350 by offering authentic Bonneville styling—teardrop tank, round headlight, twin shocks—in a smaller, more affordable package.

The existing Triumph 400cc models (Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X) have been successful but sit above this crucial tax threshold. The Bonneville 350 would allow Triumph to target a massive volume market in India with a competitive price.

This strategic shift raises questions about Triumph's global lineup. The company could offer both 350cc and 400cc Bonneville variants for different markets, or keep the 350 as a region-specific model. The new tax landscape is forcing major brands to prioritize smaller displacements and aggressive pricing in key markets like India.
