Motorsport serves as an extreme testing ground for vehicle innovations, with many modern car components, including tires, benefiting from racing development. Bridgestone leverages this environment as a "mobile lab" to pressure-test sustainable materials before applying them to everyday tires.
For the 2026 season, Bridgestone's Firestone brand will produce approximately 36,000 race tires, nearly all of which are recycled post-use. These tires incorporate renewable and recycled materials like soybean oil, recycled steel, and recycled carbon black, validated under extreme conditions to ensure no performance compromise.
Technologies tested on the track, such as the ENLITEN platform, are already scaling to consumer tires. This includes EV-specific models using over 50% sustainable materials. The company's rigorous process ensures new bio-based and recycled inputs meet the high-performance demands of racing before reaching the public.
By treating the racetrack as a high-stakes proving ground, Bridgestone accelerates the development of greener tire technologies for widespread road use.
