Volkswagen has launched the ID.3 Neo, a comprehensively updated version of its electric compact hatchback. Pre-sales are starting in Germany and other European markets. The car boasts a redesigned exterior, a completely rebuilt interior, a new drive system, and a maximum WLTP range of up to 630 kilometers with the largest battery.

The new "Pure Positive" design language defines the front, featuring a wide illuminated light strip. The interior gets a major overhaul with a new 12.9-inch Android-based infotainment screen, physical climate controls, and a standard 10.25-inch driver display. The VW Connect package will be free for 10 years.

The ID.3 Neo is built on the updated MEB+ platform with a new rear-wheel-drive motor. Buyers can choose from three power outputs (125 kW, 140 kW, 170 kW) and three battery sizes (50 kWh, 58 kWh, 79 kWh). The largest battery supports 183 kW charging. Range ratings are 417 km, 494 km, and 630 km (WLTP).

Trim levels are now called Trend, Life, and Style. Standard features include wireless smartphone integration, a ChatGPT-powered voice assistant, and vehicle-to-load capability. A more powerful APP550 model will follow later.

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer stated this launch is part of a strategic reset, with new electric product lines reflecting an improved philosophy. The new cars are expected to reach customers in July.
